I intentionally decided not to take a deposit because I was afraid that if I messed something up, the client would have already paid me, and I would feel even more stressed than I already do while making the ring. So I decided to just go with the flow.</p>

I documented all the steps with images, and I can already see a few mistakes.</p>
<p>For example, I think I set the crystal too deep and it ended up a bit uneven—but I guess that comes with practice. I also feel like I didn’t file the outer wall enough, which made it really&hellip;</p>

<p>It all depends on what you already have and what you would like to do. </p>
<p>I, for instance, was saving for years to buy some durston tools &#8211; I know that the quality of these is the best I would be able to use for a lifetime. </p>

I am checking for rocking before setting, and the stone usually feels stable at that stage, which is why it’s been confusing when it still shifts once I start pushing metal.</p>

<p>I’m struggling to properly set an oval stone, and I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I feel like I may be miscutting the seat for the stone, but I’m not certain.</p>

Did not figure out the right height for the prong so if I push on the center very hard it will pup up. I think 2 more prongs would solve this issue. </p>
